Self-Care? What the Heck is That?
If you are a busy, as many of us are, it can be easy to overlook an important person: YOU!
We all get wrapped up in the day-to-day nuances, and sometimes we put ourselves on the back burner. Maybe you have kids and you are running them from activity to activity. Maybe you have a partner who is unwell, or you are taking care of aging parents. Whatever it is that is keeping you busy, it is crucial that you set aside time to take care of YOU.
In therapy sessions, counselors can help you to identify ways to take care of YOU. Some excellent examples include:
Allowing time alone to be with your thoughts
Reading a good book

A bubble bath
Buying something just for you
Working out
Taking a walk
Having a night out with friends
Eating a meal you enjoy
Having dessert
Praying or meditation
Getting a good night of sleep
Learning a hobby
The list goes on and on. Basically, self-care is exactly what it sounds like. Taking care of YOU.
So, even if it is difficult, try to allow yourself a little time for self-care each day. If you feel good, you will be happier and more accessible to the other important people in your life.
